Renea + Brandon = Married!!

What can I say about these two… I had an absolute blast capturing their beautiful wedding day!! Right off the bat I knew we were gonna hit it off… Renea and Brandon value their family and friends like nothing else. And after hanging out with their whole gang for a day I can totally tell why. From the minute I arrived everyone was cracking jokes from left to right. It just made my job so easy. Renea and Brandon grew up three house from each other. Back yard BBQ’s and hanging out in the Williams gazebo was where it all began. Their love for each other has flourished over the years. And now they are husband and wife!

Kelly + Dave = Married!

I recently had a stellar time shooting the fabulous wedding of Kelly and Dave with the awesome Brooke’s duo Mark and Candice.  Kelly and Dave met in Vegas many years ago and their love of sports (especially basketball!!) and family have brought them to seal their love for each other forever. Their wedding was so much fun to capture. And their love for each other moved me deeply!!

Book club + Mark Batterson = new green sticky note

If you walk into my office on any given day a few things should stick out with certainty. (1) The bright colors I surround myself with. My oh so favorite sharp lime green and  matted navy blue with burnt orange accents. Often times I’m told “I’d never think to put those colors together.” Which I like to take as putting my color theory classes in college to good work. Does anybody else have 2 oz togo cups still carrying the remits of a 10 hue gray scale? processed by hand. No… just me??

(2) The use of two Bycycle rims painted and mounted to the wall to serve as my flow chart. I’m an avid reader of Ready Made. A Bimonthly GREEN conscious magazine aimed to unite the young urbanites who like to take everyday stuff laying around your house (like tennis balls and CD cases) and create usable and interestedly designed projects from them. Well back in the spring issue I saw an article on creating a “meals on wheels” hanging pot holder rack out of Bicycle wheels. From there, I took my own twist on it. By the way, if you’ve read this far, you should probably know that I’m a huge fan of Duchamp. Like huge! So if you’ve got a pain of cracked glass and a can of paint? Call me… we’ll turn it into the focal point of your house!

(3) The massive amount of colored sticky notes. ‘Massive amount’ is not an exaggeration.  These delightful 3″ x 4″ apply, re-apply and re-apply beauties can be found stuck to my desktop, flow chart, tops as well as sides of my desk and any reachable wall space. If you happen to take a closer look at what’s written on them, you’ll find an array from lens wish lists to weekend plans, short term reminders, long term reminders and inspirational quotes.

My Stickies with inspirational quotes on them are my favorite! After taking a leap of faith and deciding to pursue my passion of photography full-time I have clung to my faith and the encouragement of friends and loved ones. I right them down on stickies and place them in my constant view. So these words are starring at me when I feel the lows of this roller coaster like adventure and I add to them when I’m at the peaks! Recently  I joined a book club. Our first book of choice was Mark Batterson’s, In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day. Batterson writes a re-telling of the Biblical story of Benaiah. Now there are very few lines written in the Old Testament about Benaiah. One of which he kills a Lion in a pit on a snowy day. In the past I have looked past this detail. Batterson reminded me that God is in the resume building business. Not only for Benaiah but also for me and you. Throughout pursuing my passion I have questioned God if this is really what I’m supposed to be doing. Faced with problems I have become uncertain. After reading In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day, not only have I begun to change my reaction to problems I face, but I’ve added a few more quotes. And there for a new green sticky note.

 img_6393.jpg

These have brought me encouragement and insight. I hope they do to you also.

“Our feelings are determined by our subjective focus.”

“There are basically two types of people in the world;  complainers and worshipers.”

“If you don’t have any problems, you don’t have any potential.”

Tiffany + Tommy = Married!!

I had the pleasure of shooting with the sweet and talented Melissa Slater at the beautiful Irvine Hyatt. Among close friends and family, Tiffany and Tommy pledged their love to each other. The fabulous details were so beautifully handled by Catherine Bachelier Smith. And the artisans at Green Leaf Designs created such tantalizing and sweet smelling floral arrangements I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by them!

The day was all around breathless! From the live music played on a harp to the yummy 7 course meal to perfectly placed reception details. This was topped off the out pouring of love between Tiffany and Tommy. One of my favorite moments from the day was their first look, a moment they choose to do before the ceremony. Tiffany just melted into complete relaxation once she saw her new husband!  From that moment on she just seemed to be floating on cloud nine. Which made me think of my amazing husband and how I still loose my breath when he enters the room.

7.12.08 -Aimee + John = Trash the Dress

Aimee and John are super fun, excited about life and so in love with each other! They absolutely light up any room they enter… and this is true weather they are together or apart. Aimee and John met at my sweet alma mater CSULB. Their love for each other started over a healthy appetite of water polo games, surfing sets and snowboarding adventures. I was so honored to shoot a Trash the Dress session with them! The super sweet and talented Nicole DeAnne did Aimee’s hair and make-up oh so beautiful.

Here are a few of the fabulous shots.

7.7.08 Last empty wall + photo project = our house is finally finished!

So it finally happened… the last empty wall in out house has been decorated. And boy not a minute to soon, since we’ve been on the lease for a year now! I feel so refreshed and like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that our humble abode is all prettized. So last week I set up the tri pod and shot a personal sequence of the Husband and me. Framed them all in mod black frames and hung them horizontal. For web purposes I’ll do a vertical montage of the photos.

Without further a due…

6.21.08 Alanna + Jared = Married!

So let me first start off by saying… Wow has it been crazy busy. The plus side, so many awesome sessions to post about. The downside, days just keep flying by. To my faithful bloggers: Thanks for giving me the love! I can’t tell you how blessed I feel. And so sorry to make you wait.

Now to the sweet and adorable Alanna and Jared! I had the honor of shooting with the very talented Melissa Slater at the dreamy Rancho Capistrano where the beautiful Bride and Groom proclaimed their love to each other. The day started off warm with a sweet breeze and just keep getting better and better with each hour.  Much like Alanna and Jared themselves! These two love birds met in High School Youth group at their fun-static Mariners Church. You could say their meeting was foretelling as Alanna and Jared are currently leaders actively involved with High School ministries. (So near and dear to my heart.) Their love for the youth encompassed every story and accolade. So much so that they had their entire small group as junior attendants!! And to top it off they’re big baseball fans. The night ended with trading cards and an ice-cream sandwich cake!

5.30.08 -Dan + Sarann = Engaged!

I am so excited to be capturing this awesomely fun couples big day! We started off with snapping the engagement photos of Dan and Sarann in oh so fun Pasadena. Which in the not to distant future will be the first home town of the soon to be Olsons!  Meeting on the University of Vanguard campus, Sarann recalls the first time she saw Dan, “I just knew he was the one!” I’ve known Dan since college and to see the love he has for Sarann just make me grin ear to ear. Their excitement and love for each other was so evident in the laughter and playfulness between them.

Have I mentioned how adorable they are?

05.15.08 -The Stiles girls gift to Daddy

My good friend Tami called and told me about this special gift she wanted to put together for her husband Greg’s up coming birthday. When I heard Birthday, my ears totally perked up. Now for those of you who don’t know I am crazy obsessed with birthdays! I just can’t get enough of them. And Tami wanted to put together a sweet collage of her and their three totally adorable girls Alicia, Katie and Emma. I couldn’t say YES fast enough!

The four of us girls headed over to one spunky and colorful park for a day of photo tag and sing songs. The wind was blowing and moving us all along. The whole time Alicia and Katie were singing together. Just too cute! To capture the love between these three sweet sisters just made my heart beam.
